What is a soundwalk? It’s a binaural recording made while walking through a sound-rich environment, set to an original instrumental score. The seamless song sequence transports the listener, taking them on an intimate and emotional audio journey, reconnecting with nature, enabling a recalibration of attention and focus. The natural soundscape is immersive, often hallucinatory. The compositions are spacious, melodic and uncomplicated, built up with piano, woodwinds, strings, guitar, tuned percussion and warm synthesizer. Portland, Oregon composer/recordist Chad Crouch has seized upon something original and essential with the soundwalk format.

Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary Soundwalk transports the listener to an ancient Bald Cypress forested marsh in Florida, brimming with wildlife sounds and the marimba-like tones of the hardwood boardwalk underfoot.
