Trout Lake is a small town in Washington state with a population of around 600 or so. Over the past century the lake from which the town took its name has naturally transitioned into a wetland ecosystem and is presently a sanctuary for the vulnerable Oregon Spotted Frog, and a stopover destination for well over 100 bird species. It's a beautiful area off the beaten path in the sparsely developed foothills of Mt. Adams. Composer and field recordist Chad Crouch has captured the mood of this serene landscape in the latest edition of his Field Reports music series with his crisp, sensitive soundscape recordings, and sparse compositions for piano, woodwinds, and tuned percussion.
